Biography
Marina Vukoje graduated in 2011 from the University of Zagreb Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, course study of Environmental Engineering. For a short period of time, she has been employed as a Senior environmental expert at the Department of Construction, Physical Planning and Environmental Protection of the City of Slavonski Brod, Croatia. Since October 2012 she has been employed as a Research and teaching assistant at the Department of Environmental Protection, Faculty of Graphic Arts, University of Zagreb. In the same year, she enrolled in the postgraduate study of Graphic engineering and graphic design. She finished her Ph.D. on 4th July 2018, with the title “The influence of adhesion parameters on material and organic recycling of thermochromic prints†under the supervision of prof. Mirela Rožić, PhD. Her Ph.D. thesis was honored with summa cum laude from the Ph.D. evaluation committee, as it was a summary of 8 scientific papers (5 of them were published in WoS Journals). As she received a Ph.D., she has been appointed to a postdoctoral researcher in September 2018 at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Graphic Arts and Research associate in December 2018. In January 2021 she has been appointed to Assistant Professor at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Graphic Arts, Zagreb, Croatia. She participates in teaching courses, in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate studies, as well as in different research activities. During her Ph.D. study and work, she distinguished herself with a large and ongoing scientific training and participation in projects. She has participated as a researcher on the scientific project "New Materials Formulation, Characteristics of Prints and Environmental Factors". She has actively participated in the work of the European Cooperation in Science and Technology, COST Action FP 1003 "Impact of Renewable Materials in Packaging for Sustainability - Development of Renewable Fiber and Bio-Based Materials for New Packaging Applications and COST Action FP 1405 project "Active and intelligent fiber-based packaging - innovation and market introduction" as an MC Substitute Member. So far, she has published 18 scientific papers in scientific journals while 28 scientific papers were published in internationally–reviewed conference proceedings. She also published 9 professional papers. The greatest focus of her research is on the field of paper and paper-based packaging recycling. In addition, one of the main problems related to understanding the impact of the thermochromic printing inks – printing substrates interactions on their functionality and environmental sustainability in terms of recycling and biodegradation has been the focus of her research recently. Additionally, her studies are related to the development of protective coatings for paper and paper-based packaging and stability studies of different printing substrates. Given that this area is still unexplored so far, the research she has conducted provides a great scientific contribution.
